Definition of Writing

Haii semua…. Kembali lagi dengan saya yang kali ini akan membahas materi tentang definition of writing. Yuk disimak dengan baik yahh…..
1  1. The Nature of Writing

Writing is the result of one's activity putting something in a dimension of empty space (Resmini et al., 2006: 287). While in Oxford Dictionary, "writing is produce something in written form so that people can read, perform or use it." If this article is read by others, it will give a certain message for people who read it. The message can take the form of an idea, information, willingness, desire, or feelings. This is in line with Poteet's opinion (Mulyono, 1999: 224) that writing is a visual representation of thoughts, feelings or ideas, using symbols of the language system of researchers for the purposes of communication or recording.
Looking at the definition of several sources above, it can be concluded that writing is
essentially a knowledge, that is knowing what is in the mind and then poured into the form of writing.
Knowledge here is not only in the form of words or phrases but also can be images, a combination of
ideas and images, and everything that is on the mind. Knowledge of a person will become apparent
after the pour into the form of oral and written. "Carol Cox, 1999: 309)." Just as you may not know
what you're going to say to you write it "(Carol Cox, 1999: 309). The statement affirms that writing
 is the way of knowledge.

2. Learning Writing

Learning is an accumulation of the concept of teaching (teaching) and the concept of learning
(learning). Teaching is done by the teacher while the learning is done by the students.

"The concept of learning according to Dimyati and mudjiono is the programmed teacher's activity
in instructional design, to make students learn actively, emphasizing the provision of learning
resources. Meanwhile, according to UUSPN No. 20 year 2003 states learning is the process of
interaction of learners with educators and learning resources in a learning environment
(Sagala 2006: 62). "

Piaget's theory suggests that elementary children are at a concrete operational stage (Sagala, 2006: 27). At this stage the child has been able to think rationally but has not been able to deal with abstract material, so in reaching the stage of thinking the child still needs concrete objects or associated with a certain experience, in order to be accepted by reason rationally. In relation to that, the learning of English writing in elementary school necessarily requires a process, a teacher like to assign writing through a series of stages that can support the child's thinking process. But unfortunately some elementary school teachers still instruct their students to do Instant writing. in this case the student will be difficult if the controlled writing activities or guided writing activities previously not given.
